CNN’s Ryan Nobles obtained a copy of Mark Meadows’ upcoming book in which the former chief-of-staff to Donald Trump dedicates some pages to the January 6 Capitol riot. Meadows has been subpoenaed by the House select committee investigating the attack. The panel is trying to determine the extent of the coordination behind the attack and who may have been involved.

Meadows has agreed to appear before the committee, but has suggested that he is unable to talk to investigators about certain matters because of executive privilege.

Meadows, Nobles told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Friday, “makes a number of claims about the events of that day that will be of special interest to the January 6th select committee. First of all, he claims there was no coordinated effort by the White House or the campaign to try and encourage people to storm the Capitol on that day.”

Nobles said Meadows claimed that the idea for Trump to give a speech to supporters in Washington D.C. on the morning of January 6 was “organic.” Quoting directly from Meadows’ book, Nobles relayed that Trump “did not call for violence and he did not expect that anyone would enter the Capitol building.”

Nobles then pointed out that Trump had suggested those attending his speech march to the Capitol.

“Now this is despite the fact that on that day, President Trump specifically encouraged his supporters to march down to the Capitol after his speech,” Nobles said. “Meadows claims that that was just ad-libbed and that the president was only being metaphorical, that he didn’t actually intend for anyone to go down to the Capitol despite specifically requesting that they do so. And for Meadows’ viewpoint on that day, Jake, he believes that everyone that was there on the Ellipse that day really didn’t take the president seriously.”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa Ryan,” Tapper responded. “Because Mark Meadows is trying to claim executive privilege. He’s saying he can’t talk to the January 6th committee about his interactions with then-President Trump. But he’s writing about his interactions with President Trump, the same events that the January 6th committee wants to ask him about? And it’s like he’s just doing it in a book to make money?”

“That appears to be exactly what he is doing, Jake,” Nobles replied. “As we said before, he doesn’t spend a lot of time talking about January 6th, but he does specifically talk about that conversation that he had with President Trump as he left the stage on that day.”

Nobles noted Meadows will appear before the committee next week, and it remains to be seen how cooperative he will be.

“Maybe they should offer to pay him,” Tapper quipped.

CNN on Saturday announced that the network has terminated primetime host Chris Cuomo.

"Chris Cuomo was suspended earlier this week pending further evaluation of new information that came to light about his involvement with his brother's defense," the network said in a statement. "We retained a respected law firm to conduct the review, and have terminated him, effective immediately. While in the process of that review, additional information has come to light. Despite the termination, we will investigate as appropriate."

In suspending Cuomo, CNN cited newly released transcripts from the New York Attorney General's office. The documents show that Cuomo tried to use his position at CNN to dig up information on women who accused his brother, then-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, of sexual misconduct. The documents also seemingly contradicted Cuomo's statements about how he tried to assist his brother that he made earlier this year.

The New York Times reported Saturday that the termination "completed a stunning downfall" for Cuomo, who had been "the top-rated anchor at CNN and a veteran television journalist who had built a successful broadcast career outside of his famed political family."

New Chris Cuomo sexual misconduct allegation emerged days before CNN firing: report
Former ABC producer Shelley Ross previously accused Cuomo of sexual harassment





CNN reportedly learned about a new sexual misconduct allegation against its disgraced anchor Chris Cuomo just days before his firing.

The claim came Wednesday from prominent attorney Debra S. Katz, who is representing the accuser, according to The New York Times.

Katz's client is a "former junior colleague at another network" and the newly emerged allegation against Cuomo is "unrelated to the Gov. Andrew Cuomo matter."


The lawyer said her client "came forward because she was disgusted by Chris Cuomo’s on-air statements in response to the allegations made against his brother, Gov. Andrew Cuomo" when the CNN star addressed the scandal in March, telling viewers, "I have always cared very deeply about these issues, and profoundly so. I just wanted to tell you that."

Notably, Katz also represents Charlotte Bennett, the second woman to accuse now-ousted New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment.


It was not immediately unknown if this newest reported revelation had any role in CNN's firing of Cuomo on Saturday or if the allegation was the "additional information" the network referred to in its statement announcing the anchor's termination.

"Based on the report we received regarding Chris’s conduct with his brother’s defense, we had cause to terminate," a CNN spokesperson told the Times. "When new allegations came to us this week, we took them seriously, and saw no reason to delay taking immediate action."

Steven Goldberg, a spokesman for Cuomo, additionally told the Times, "These apparently anonymous allegations are not true," adding "If the goal in making these false and unvetted accusations was to see Mr. Cuomo punished by CNN, that may explain his unwarranted termination."

CNN did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for comment.

 

Discussing Fredo's lack of talent and how he came to be CNN's top anchor, is sort of like they're arguing about the world's tallest dwarf.

Seriously though, you just know there has to be more to this that has not yet come out. CNN would not fire their top-rated, on-air "news" dwarf over this alone. Not after all the stuff they've let slide with some of their other personalities.

 

It's funny - being the top rated anchor at CNN is like being the tallest midget.

I understand that both of Cuomo's viewers are despondent.

 

With the downfall of the dwarf, I think CNN feels they've sent the equivalent of a strongly worded email, all caps, regarding maintaining their sterling reputation. The problem is, CNN has never been the gold standard, and will never regain the minimal trust they had even 5 years ago. When news organizations bank their whole future on attacking one guy, president Donald Trump, you gotta ask what happens when he's no longer in power, no longer the scarecrow they've made him out to be.

You get lusterless, lackless, untalented nonentities like Cuomo, Reid and Stelter. Who continue attacking Trump a year after he's gone. No wonder their audiences are deserting them -- they're the human equivalent of zero-trick ponies.

One can debate the merits of FNC, CNN and MSNBC all day long. But in an era when homophobe Joy Reid's audience levels over at MSNBC are sagging like cheap underwear and CNN's Brian Stelter's ratings have dropped like a rock tossed off a 10 story high rise – “Golden Girls” reruns are killing him!!! – one has to ask, how long will the news executives allow this to go on? What kind of business model – an honest business model and not one wholly subsidized for ideological reasons by Leftist billionaires – stays alive without a legitimate audience? And how long will real sponsors continue paying to advertise to CNN's two remaining viewers (H/Tip latecomer91364).

Lucy, we got a problem here.

 

No damage control can help CNN - their journalistic integrity and credibility have long been shot to hell.

 

Mrs. Cuomo's Dwarf Problem
I've been thinking about CNN's whole dwarf problem, and if I am right, that there is more to come.....if I were Mrs. Christina Cuomo, I'd be running for the closest divorce lawyer I could find.

Cuomo, CNN's previously reigning dwarf, is a narcissist. You can tell just by the way he acts (like when coming up out of his basement with a camera pushed into his face), that he feels the world revolves around him – ego and hubris rule. We've seen him working out and attending parties in the Hamptons. But he was always alone. If he'd play fast and loose with his female staff, as accusers say, then he'd do it too as a feted celebrity in a social setting when his wife wasn't around.

Cuomo will more than likely never work in news on television again. Insiders at CNN, especially female insiders, all apparently agree that he's gone for good. Despite Jeffery Tubin being allowed back to CNN after being caught slapping his tube in a live online chat (Whot? Which CNN executive made that decision?), like Matt Lauer, you don't come back from what the Left sees as egregious sexual behavior.

Christina likes her life style in the Hamptons. So how does Cuomo continue paying for his gorgeous new mansion if he's not flogging himself on TV? What happens when his accusers begin lawsuits? What happens when his bank accounts are frozen?

Run Christina, run.

Jussie Smollett testifies to receiving text from CNN's Don Lemon during Chicago Police attack investigation
The 'Empire' alum is charged with six counts of felony disorderly conduct for filing a false police report about the alleged attack





Jussie Smollett said he had correspondence with CNN's Don Lemon during the early parts of the Chicago Police Department’s (CPD) investigation into the alleged hate crime attack for which Smollett is currently on trial defending himself against allegations he faked the entire ordeal.

In his court testimony on Monday, Smollett, 39, said under oath that during the investigation, he received a text from the network’s Don Lemon — supposedly relaying information that the CPD didn’t believe his account of what happened, Fox News’ Matt Finn reported from the Windy City courthouse where prosecutors and Smollett’s defense team are at odds.

Reps for CNN and Lemon did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for comment.


Lemon told his viewers at the time that the story was "personal" since he and Smollett had been acquaintances and were in constant communication since the alleged incident and that Smollett told Lemon what he said had happened to him, which he admitted raised lots of questions.

He stressed that while Smollett is "innocent until proven guilty," he still "squandered the good will of a whole lot of people" if his story wasn’t true.

"He even lied to a lot of people… including me. And that’s not cool," Lemon said to his viewers. "He squandered the good will of very high-profile people who one day may be running this country like Kamala Harris and Cory Booker and people like President Trump."

Monday’s court testimony also saw Smollett testify that an interview he gave to "Good Morning America" was heavily edited.

"Every breath, every emotion is chopped so you really can’t understand it," Smollett said of the sit-down conversation.

According to Fox News’ Matt Finn, Smollett further pressed that he turned down an Alicia Keys invitation to perform on stage during the Grammys but ultimately declined because he wanted to perform as a singer and not as a singer who was beaten up.
Smollett is now in the hands of prosecutors who are questioning the actor on the supposed injuries he sustained in the attack.


As cross-examination has commenced, the special prosecutor asked Smollett if he recalls the Northwestern doctor – who was a witness called by Smollett’s own attorney – said Smollett had no injuries.

"I have a scar under my eye that has not healed… my injuries were real," Smollett said, according to Fox News’ Matt Finn. "I remember him saying the facial injuries were real…"

Smollett is charged with six counts of felony disorderly conduct for making what prosecutors say was a false police report about the alleged attack — one count for each time he gave a report — to three different officers.
The class 4 felony carries a prison sentence of up to three years, but experts have said if Smollett is convicted he likely would be placed on probation and ordered to perform community service.
